6 DAYS - Fasting & Prayer Guide

THEME:  Get on With It:  Undo the Pause Button

Main Scriptures: Jeremiah 29: 1-14; Revelation 3: 7-13

Introduction

Things around us may not look good or promising right now, and we are probably wondering what next.  The children of Israel were also in a difficult situation.  After suffering for several generations under the cruel hand of Pharaoh, God decided to deliver them.  As they marched out of Egypt, Pharaoh’s army came after them.  They thought they were trapped.  The Red Sea was before them, mountains were on either side.   When they looked at their options, they felt like many of us would, all was lost.  In their moment of despair, God said something to His people that still rings true today "stand still and see the salvation of the Lord” (Exodus 14:13).  God basically said I know the Red Sea is there, just move forward.  God wants us to trust Him. It all comes down to walking by faith, not by sight.  In Jeremiah 29, while Jeremiah was in Jerusalem, he heard from the people in exile.

He heard of their despair, lack of employment, poverty, their depression, their longing to return, and uncertainty about their future. Jeremiah heeded the directive of God to write the exiles a letter of hope. (Jeremiah, 29:1-14). The words of Jeremiah have practical applications to our uncertain times. They are reminders that hope is the confidence that God is in control. While things may not seem like what we want them to be,   let us be reminded that God is sovereign. He wants us to become aware of the opportunities around us.  His plans for us are perfect and are secured in His promises. He wants us to stop depending on our physical eyes to make decisions.  We just need to move forward and watch God do what He does best, and that's being God. We are never too young or too old to move on.  Regardless of how uncertain the future looks, our God is well able. That's all the assurance we need to believe in a better tomorrow today. Let’s not focus on the things that are happening around us. Trust God. Get on with it! Undo the pause button.
