Bethel United Church of Jesus Christ (Apostolic)

6 Days Fasting & Prayer Guide – May 2021

THEME: GO FORWARD - FULLY EMBRACING THE MISSION OF THE CHURCH

THEME SCRIPTURE: MARK 16:13-20

Introduction

We are at the beginning of a new church year and at the first week of May 2021, with 333 days unspent for the rest of the church year. A new year is like a freshly cleaned whiteboard waiting to be written on. This year more than any other, what markings will be etched on the whiteboard of our lives? As the church of the living God, we are called to a task of great importance. First and foremost, we must celebrate what God has done and continues to do in our lives. The world around us has changed more than we would have ever imagined. However, in the midst of all the changes, the Lord is still the same yesterday, today and forever. He is steadfast, and so can we be. As the Church of the Living God, we must continue to seek to fulfill the commands of the risen Lord – Go into the whole world and preach the good news to all of creation (Mark 16:15). We must continue to preach the gospel where God opens the door. The great commission is still in effect. God has called us to spread His message of hope, love and freedom. We must desire to be more than ordinary servants.

Let's not be tossed to and fro by the wind of change or sit gingerly on the fence waiting to see what will happen next. We have been exhorted to go forward. Let us picture the unspent days for the rest of the year as that blank whiteboard and our walk with God as the writings on that whiteboard. What message will our whiteboards convey about us? For the unspent days, let us choose to declare the good news, bind up wounds, reach out to our brother, invest in kingdom business and be a tool for kingdom expansion. May we allow ourselves to become instruments in God's hands empowered and emboldened by the Holy Spirit to bring transformation and others into the kingdom.

As we go forward, let our prayer be:

We will work for Jesus till the shadows fall

Labour for the Master, Give to Him our all
